Human Network Marks World Health Day in Sulaymaniyah with Comprehensive Awareness on Maternal and Newborn Health
On the occasion of World Health Day, observed on April 7, 2025, the Human Network for Health and Humanitarian Work organized a comprehensive awareness event in collaboration with and support from the Directorate of Preventive Health in Sulaymaniyah.
The event focused on raising awareness about women’s health during three key stages: before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after childbirth, in addition to newborn care. Emphasis was placed on the importance of regular medical check-ups, proper nutrition, essential vaccinations, and preventive measures against health complications.
The event also included the distribution of specialized medical guidelines and educational materials to attendees, as part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of primary health care and promote public awareness—especially during the critical stages of maternal and child health.
It was stressed that:
“Celebrating World Health Day is not only about highlighting public health issues, but also a call for solidarity and joint action toward a healthier future for all—starting from safe motherhood to protected and healthy childhood.”
This initiative is part of a broader series of activities carried out by the Human Network in various regions, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to maternal and child health.
Notably, the event was attended by over 50 participants from different sectors.
